| NOTES: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY |
Due to the high cost and beurocracy involved, I cannot supply any papers or certificates, so all orders are sent at your risk. Your order is accepted on the understanding you accept the risk and loss, for example, if any plants are confiscated by your Customs, or a parcel does not arrive. I can supply proof of postage only, unless you pay extra for on line tracking with signature on delivery.
I send orders in new, strong cardboard boxes, using the UK Royal Mail. I have no control over how the boxes are treated in transit and should any arrive damaged, cannot offer compensation. I do not use UPS, DSL or any other carrier.
The plant sales list is based on two pricing columns. Those in the first column are rooted. Those in the second column are unrooted cuttings.
This list contains vegatative propagations from one time collected plants and others from cultivation, as well as plants grown from seed. There are species offered which, to the best of my knowledge, are available commercially nowhere else in the world. All material offered is in good order & healthy. I send the best examples available at the time.
I have more than one clone available of many collections. Some Cono's are very variable in size and markings and it can be interesting to grow two or more clones together for comparison. There is the added advantage of being able to produce true seed when different clones from the same population are grown and flowered together. Please tell me if you require different clones and if so, please ask for cuttings I can be much more generous and have more material available as cuttings.
This list is based on the latest classification by Steven Hammer in his book, "The Dumpling & His Wife : New Views on the Genus Conophytum".
On receiving your plants, pot and water them immediately. The soil should be kept moist for a couple of weeks or so to encourage root establishment. I find plants will dry up far easier than they will rot. Once you're satisfied the plant is ok, a normal watering regime can start. Tiny species (e.g. pubicalyx and reconditum) can be prone to scorch. Keep them out of strong overhead sun and well ventilated, for best results.
ROOTED CONOPHYTUMS
Plants supplied may be from seed or cuttings. They will be 1-4 bodies mostly (sometimes clusters), depending on rarity and availability. Tiny species are usually sent as 2-4 bodies or more, but large bodied species (e.g. bilobum & wettsteinii) may only be sent as single bodies. The largest and/or best plants available at the time of your order will always be sent.
UNROOTED CONOPHYTUM CUTTINGS
Unfortuately, due to time and space restrictions, I cannot propagate every plant I have. Some species under this heading are those which I am prepared to offer from my extensive collection, as cuttings for you to grow on. Cono's root very easily from September to January. Early in this season they can root without bottom heat in 10 to 14 days, but as the days get shorter and colder, rooting takes longer and a little bottom heat can help. What is important with cuttings is that their rooting medium (I use my normal potting soil) is kept moist while roots are forming and until they are established. It really is very easy if you follow those basic rules. Larger species and some rarer ones, may be supplied as single bodies. Smaller species will usually be more. I will always try my best to make sure you are happy with the material you receive.
PLEASE DO NOT ASK HOW MANY HEADS OR BODIES PLANTS WILL HAVE. I DO NOT HAVE TIME TO DO THIS !!
In the event of any being sold out, whether you order rooted plants, unrooted cuttings, or both, please mention a few alternatives. Otherwise leave the choice to me, or request a credit note or a refund. Some new and/or rare species are always in short supply and may sell out quickly. If no instructions are given I will substitute with the nearest available. Thanks in advance for your interest and order. This list is valid until the end of November 2007. After this, no plants are sold until the next list is published in August 2008. Please note that Conophytum clones vary considerably so unless stated otherwise, there's no guarantee that plants supplied will exactly match those pictured in the galleries.
You can use an order blank from the website, or attach your list seperately. Either way, be sure to list the prices & a total inc. shipping.
PLEASE make contact by email first, to check on the availability of plants you require.
THIS LIST WILL BE UPDATED THROUGH THE SEASON AS SOME SPECIES SELL OUT AND OTHERS ARE ADDED. PLEASE CHECK BACK OCCASIONALLY. END OF SEASON ORDERS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 21ST NOVEMBER 2007. ANY ORDERS WHICH ARRIVE AFTER THIS DATE MAY HAVE TO BE REFUSED.
